Shaw Productions Videographer Assaulted on video shoot in Las Vegas

Videographer Assaulted! So we get a call this morning to videotape. Seemed innocent enough at the time. The call was from a firm in Miami Fl. We thought it was to shoot a video with an interview and some "B" roll for about 3 hours today. The client arrives in town and Robert Shaw calls client before leaving. Robert tells me that its videotaping an attorney and a private investigator while they serve someone a lawsuit for continuing swindling homeowners out of $30 Million doing loan modifications. I said "wear a bullet proof vest". He just looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. He just got back with a damaged HD camera, buttons ripped off his shirt, no more eyeglasses because he was sucker punched. I was right, they always want to kill the messenger!  At least he got a $400 tip, I would probably take a hit for $400 too NOT. ... Joan

Should you put gift registry info on Wedding Invitations?

I am often asked... Should you put on the wedding invitations about your gift registry?
NEVER and I mean NEVER put anything on an invitation about gifts or money! This is Very Tacky! No Exceptions! Instead, create a wedding website, there are many free places you can do this. Then you can put on the invitations to please visit our wedding website at www. blah blah blah and then on your website have the gift registry information. So don't be a "Tacky" Bride!  -- Joan

How does your website stack up?

If you have a website, like many of us do, there are certain things that you must do to get your page optimized. Not just the usual meta keywords etc but it's a combination of many things. I have seen many websites that when you look at the top of the internet (in the blue bar) it will say "home page" or something like that rather than a relevant title. How many credible link backs do you have to your site? You should be checking your website grade frequently. Not page rank because page rank is not used anymore and has no value. If you want to know your website grade just go to websitegrader.com. It's free and easy! This is important, for instance, if you google search "videography las vegas" more than likely you will see Shaw Productions as number one organically. Organically means that we don't pay for any ads like sponsor ads. Don't waste your money with these so called "google certified companies" like livedeal or mainstreet host. Face it, everyone is out to get your hard earned dollars so be careful. Our website grade is an 85. That is very high considering we are only local videographers rather than nationwide. And one more tip... forget having flash on your website. It not only hurts you and doesn't load up fast but the spiders cannot index it. Better to have a video on your website than flash!

Looking for couples getting married for TV show

Know anyone?
We are looking for couples in their 20's who are getting married in 2009. They need to be from culturally different backgrounds. One of the backgrounds has to be Latin.

The filming will happen over a period of 9 days plus the wedding. This does not have to happen consecutively and it is not 24 hours. The small crew would shoot around the couples schedules and would film things like if the couple is taking dance lessons, final dress fittings and rehearsals.
This is not Bridezilla or who's wedding is it anyways. We are not looking for fights. We are not looking to make anyone look bad. We are interested in different cultures coming together in a wedding ceremony. We want to see how families from different cultures interact during this day. We want to see the happy ending.

This is for MTV Tr3s television show called Quiero Mi Boda.
Please have interested couples contact Shaw Productions Inc.

Photography vs Videography

Most of the time our clients choose both but the question is why do some only choose photography and not videography? Is it their budget? But then why photography and not videography as first choice?
I would like to hear comments about this. My personal opionion is that some are all still in "old school" where photography used to be number one choice. If I had a choice of seeing only photos of my late grandmother's wedding or a video showing all the relatives interacting and emotions I would definately choose videography. Don't get me wrong, I think you should have both but professional videography is simply no comparison.

Is throwing the bouquet really good luck?

Bride's bouquet brings down plane
The wedding tradition of throwing a bride's bouquet for luck proved to be unlucky at one Italian wedding when the bride's bouquet caused a plane to explode and crash in Montioni Park in Suvereto, Tuscany.
According to a report by the BBC, the bride and groom hired a small plane to fly over the wedding reception and throw the bouquet to the female guests. But instead of falling to the ground, the bouquet was sucked into the plane's engine, causing it to catch fire and explode, the story said. Then the plane crashed into a hostel, where about 50 people escaped unharmed, as did the pilot.
Isidoro Pensieri, 44, who had the job of throwing the bouquet from the plane, was reportedly the only person hurt in the incident. She suffered fractures and a head injury and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Grosseto, the story said.

Joey Andruzzi bowls a backwards strike!

While shooting the video for Ruegy's Readers Bowling for Books we captured Joe Andruzzi bowling this once in a lifetime strike. This was a great fundraiser where several NFL players attend and support Ruegy's Readers.

Wedding Photography in Las Vegas

What's so special about getting married in Las Vegas?
Besides breathtaking views we have such a large selection of venues here in Las Vegas. Some bride and grooms that are not from Las Vegas think that the only place to get married is the strip. That couldn't be farther from the truth! There are so many places that can make your event very romantic instead of the hustle and bustle of the strip. Sometimes getting married on the strip makes it difficult for guests. Most of the time guests travel on the strip to find the hotel and I can tell you that it can take as much as 3 hours to get from one end to the other! Then they have to park and walk the distance and find the location in the midst of an array of people. Although this is all a preference, we just want to point out that there are other places that are off the strip and some with great views of the strip! As photographers and videographers we can help you with that decision. It is natural for us to know of all the other options because we shoot at so many of them!
Be sure to search out all your options and if you need any help or suggestions just contact Shaw Productions in Las Vegas!

What do you get with Wedding Videography?

What is included for Videography? When we are talking about Wedding
and other Special Events Packages it's not just about shooting the video.
It's the editing or what's known as Post Production. A video shoot of
about 4 - 5 hours will take somewhere between 30 hours to 60 hours
for editing. Editors charge around $50 an hour, which is why it's better to
have a "package" rather than priced individually. Editing includes bringing in
the hours of video into the computer, Viewing the footage minute by minute
and removing footage that won't be used. Reviewing again to remove reduntant
footage. If two cameras are used this procedure is much longer of course.
Then adding special effects, titles, credits etc. Adding music, and tweaking
all audio. Then finally rendering the footage which takes hours before
inserting into the DVD creator. This is now where the scene selections are
done then needs to be rendered again before burning the final DVD.
Why do we tell you that? Because sometimes it's hard for everyone to
understand the cost. So, when looking at the prices of the packages you
need to consider the total time involved to create your very entertaining DVD.
You don't want a DVD that is boring but rather like watching a blockbuster movie.
So... It's not "just" 4 - 5 hours of work! What is actually included is the shooting
of the video, post-production and the final creation of your DVD.

Now, having said this. When you see an inexperienced shooter say "I can do your wedding for only $300" you have been warned. There is no do-over! It's not about pointing a camera and shooting.

What is Trash the Wedding Dress?

What to do AFTER the wedding!

Trash the dress refers to Photography and Videography that contrasts your wedding dress in an environment in which it is completely out of place. Generally the shot is done in unusual places such as sitting on an old abandoned rusted out car or perhaps playing in a water fountain. It could be something of interest such as, let's say your husband works on heavy equipment, you could have your photo session focused on and around the heavy equipment. The photos we do for this is more like art. Some of the best shots are done in black and white or sepia tones. We also video tape the photography shoot and put it on a DVD. Naturally you will do this after your wedding. Some prefer to do it soon after the wedding, some do it on the one year anniversary. Best not to wait too long because the wedding dress may not fit.

This is also great for Prom Dresses too!

Live Broadcast Video!

Since it is not possible for all the wedding guests to make it to the wedding there are alternatives. Shaw Productions Inc, a local videography and photography company is launching a new option for their clients.
Live broadcast of their wedding allows for the guests who cannot attend to be able to watch the event take place.

Suppose a bride and groom have friends and relatives out of state that cannot make it or, perhaps due to costs, need to limit the number of guests. This is a great solution. Venues that charge $92 per person multiply that by 50 extra guests could easily rack up costs exceeding $4,500 so it is a better option to offer Live Broadcast Video.
